HERSHELL MURRAY
HERSHELL MURRAY
A graduate of both the Kentucky Military Institute and the Virginia Military Institute, Hershell proudly dedicated his life to the service of his country and the values it imbued.
Recognized for his contribution, he retired from the United States Army as a highly decorated full colonel. A Ranger serving several tours in Vietnam as both an infantry officer and as an attack helicopter pilot, Hershell earned two silver stars, three bronze stars, and two Purple Hearts, along with numerous other awards and decorations. Post military, he had a successful career in business.
Hershell’s commitment to the military transcended active duty. In recent years, he was committed to ensuring imperative medical aid to veterans while fighting another personal battle, that of Parkinson’s. He faced these challenges with the same courage and determination demonstrated while in the military. On March 2, 2024, with his beloved wife by his side, Hershell’s fight ended.
Interment will be scheduled at Arlington Cemetery at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. N-G
