CHARLES ERSKINE PENNICK Aug. 19, 1938 - March. 10, 2024

Charles E. Pennick, affectionately known as “Popcorn,” passed peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2024, in Clifton Forge. He was 85.

Charles was born on Aug. 19, 1938, in Lexington to Charles W. Pennick and Elaine Hall.

Throughout his active life, he dedicated over 25 years working at Virginia Military Institute. He thoroughly enjoyed his walks around Lexington and loved detailing cars, horticulture, his Blues music and he was a unique craftsman.

Charles is survived by his son, Eric Walker of Roanoke; grandson, Jalen M. Walker; granddaughter, Leighton J. Walker; sister, Irene (Vaden Jr.) Thompson of Lexington; nephews, Randall Thompson of Savannah, Ga., “Squawk” (Lynn) Thompson of Lexington and Wahid (Rita) Shabazz of Waverly; niece, Rachelle (Rafael) Ferrer of Atlanta, Ga.; and several beloved cousins and family.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents as well as his maternal grandmother, Addie R. Hall.

His wishes to be cremated were respected and his remains will be cherished by his loving family. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Richardson Park Pavilion.
