SAMUEL MOORE JR.
Samuel Henly Moore Jr., 75, of Buena Vista, passed peacefully Tuesday, April 9, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born June 3, 1948, in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Samuel Henly Moore Sr. and Mary Maxine Smith Moore.
Sam was in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. He was a retired brick mason and a member of the American Legion and VFW. Sam loved bluegrass, playing his dobro, and bear hunting.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Violet Faye Rhodes Moore; brother, Lewis Allen Moore; and nephew, David Allen Moore.
Sam leaves behind his son, Samuel H. Moore and wife, Jenny; two granddaughters, Faith (Jared) and Kim Moore. He also leaves behind his significant other of more than 20 years who he loved dearly, Janice Barger; bonus son, Jason Barger; bonus grandson, Jase Barger; special sister-in-law, Sue Moore; niece, Debbie Leftwich; other special loved ones, his Bluegrass family; and his baby dog, Reggie.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Punker Robertson.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion, Buena Vista, VA.
