Zachary Jacob Makoto Shiraki of Buena Vista passed from this life in the early hours of Saturday, May 4, 2024, due to a brief, though fatal, diabetic episode. 

Zach, though born in Greenville, Texas, on Aug. 14, 1996, began school in the Buena Vista City Public Schools, graduating from ParryMcCluer High School in 2014. He currently attended Southern Virginia University. 

As a vocal performance major, he sang with the Chamber Singers. He also sang with the Grace Episcopal Church choir.

Zach was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 

He is survived by his grandmother, Margaret Bailey; parents, Chris and Marie Shiraki; seven siblings, Keely Shiraki-Jones, Mikaela Byrd, Brianne Shiraki, Johanna Shiraki, Caleb Shiraki, Joshua Shiraki, and Eme Lee; 14 nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 9, at 6 p.m. at the Buena Vista Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
