GARNETH HIGGINS

Garneth Marie Hostetter Higgins, 83, of Lexington died Friday, May 10, 2024, at her daughter’s home.

Born May 24, 1940, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of Sylvester Raymond Higgins and Clessie Helena Hostetter.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Hunter Higgins, and her brother, Raymond R. Higgins Sr.

Surviving are her daughter, April H. Campbell; son-in-law, Greg L. Campbell Jr.; grandchildren, Allison and Landrey Campbell; siblings, Eleanor F. Wallace, Linda C. Hickman and Darlene C. Clark; as well as many adored nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and a multitude of extended family and beloved friends.

She was a lifetime member of Ebenezer A.R. Presbyterian Church where she spent many years as an active part of the choir and was very involved in the many activities of the church. She was very open in her faith and continued to read the Bible and enjoyed all gospel music.

Garneth was a kind and gentle woman who always had a smile on her face, a positive attitude without complaints and unconditional love for her family, especially her pride and joy, her two granddaughters.

Garneth was a retired custodian with Rockbridge County Public Schools, most of which were at Highland Belle, alongside her husband. She was loved, adored and respected by everyone who knew her.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, May 16, at Harrison Funeral Home by Ray Higgins Jr. followed by burial at Ebenezer A.R. Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450.
