PRISCILLA JAMISON

PRISCILLA JAMISON

Priscilla Shafer Jamison, 88, of Lexington passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in the company of her loving family.

Priscilla was born and raised in Roanoke to Harry Samuel Shafer and Kathleen Allen Shafer. While at William FlemingHigh School, Priscilla’s mother insisted she meet the lovely boy working at the grocery store, Donald “Donnie” Jamison. Don was the love of Priscilla’s life. Priscilla and Don ultimately married, settled in Lexington, and continued their love story for 61 years until his death in 2019.

Priscilla never met a stranger and rarely encountered a problem she didn't try to fix. She dedicated her life to family, faith, and service to her community.  She was passionate about issues impacting children, VMI, her church, and her family. She graduated from Madison College (1958) with a B.S. degree in elementary education, and she went on to shape generations of children, with most of her career as a kindergarten teacher in Buena Vista.

Of all her accomplishments. Priscilla was most proud of her family. She is survived by her two children, their spouses, and four grandchildren: her daughter, Lynne Kinder Solms (and husband, Tim) of Richmond, and children Kate and Grace Kinder; her son, Mark Jamison (and wife, Elizabeth) of Roanoke, and their children Joseph and Kyra Jamison. She is also survived by devoted nieces and nephews, and friends and neighbors who treated her like family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son-in-law Trey Kinder, and her sister Barbara Ohmsen of Chesapeake.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, May 31, at Manly Memorial BaptistChurch in Lexington. A visitation with family will precede the service at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Jamison ‘57 Family Scholarship at VMI or to one of the ministries of Manly MemorialBaptist Church.

Priscilla was a woman of great faith, and the family takes comfort that she has returned to the Lord she praised, and that Priscilla and Don are again reunited in heaven. She was dearly loved and will be missed.
