RODNEY PLOGGER
RODNEY PLOGGER
He was born Jan. 13, 1951, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Lexington, a son of the late Mary Miller Plogger and Albert Clinton Plogger. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clay Plogger.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Wines Plogger; son, Joshua Plogger of Rockbridge Baths; daughter, Molly Boyd (Brian Fisher) of Chester; stepson, Jeremy K. Brown (Lisa Humphries) of Lexington; grandchildren Taylor Ann Boyd, Sam, Elliot and Mattix Brown; sister Martha Robertson (Scott) of Staunton; niece Sara and nephew Clay (Natalie), brotherin- law Timothy K. Wines of Lexington; and his canine children Maggie and Gracie.
Rodney was a heavy equipment operator, but he loved being behind the levers in a crane. He retired from Fairfield–Echols in 2020 and North Fork Lumber in 2023, but never retired from his first job of farming the land he loved that has been in his family for five generations.
Rodney was a hunter education instructor, avid hunter and marksman, and a member of the NRA, NWTF and the Blue Ridge Shooters Club, whom he had a special bond with his shooting buddies.
He loved his family, friends and neighbors and always was willing to help or go that extra mile for them.
In the last months, due to illness, Rodney really missed his church family at Goshen Baptist Church, but his faith and love in the Lord never wavered.
A funeral was conducted at Harrison Funeral Chapel Saturday, June 15, by Pastor Scott Reese. Burial was private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Castle Christian School, P.O. Box 41, Fairfield, VA 24435.
Arrangements were by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
