BETTY LEIGHTON
She was the daughter of the late Maurice and Louise McCullough Reynolds and was the widow of Richard “Buck” Leighton.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Frances Johnson, and her grandson, Andrew Clarke.
She is survived by daughters Linda Coleman and husband Mike, and Vickie Clarke; son Ronnie Leighton; grandchildren Paige and Dustin Woods, Eric and Katy Clarke, Lauren Clarke, Austin Leighton, and Garrett Leighton; and great-grandchildren Greyson Woods, and Mason, Cameron, and Norah Clarke.
Betty was born in Natural Bridge Station and was valedictorian of her graduating class from Natural Bridge High School. She was an active and long-time member of Highland United Methodist Church.
Over the course of her career, she worked in banking, real estate, and was an enrolled agent for H&R Block.
Betty spent many years involved in Stonecroft Ministries through the Tri-Cities Christian Business and Professional Women’s Council and continued attending the monthly prayer coffees until several months ago. She devoted her life to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at her church, Highland United Methodist Church, Colonial Heights, with visitation one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Internment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
