After graduating from Rockbridge High School, she spent her career in production work. She retired from Hershey Chocolate in 2012. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Buena Vista.

Alice is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Hansford “Hank” Sorrells; and her brothers, Lynwood Gordon and Larry Gordon.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Steven and Christy Sorrells, (Steven) of Spottswood; Karen and Rob Jones (Alison and Kameron) of Blacksburg; and Brandi and Shane Ervin (Landon, Adria, and Kendall) of Greenville. She is also survived by her sister, Darlene (Howard) Vest; sistersin- law, Lynda Gordon and Erlinda Gordon; her best friend since elementary school, Patricia Sorrells of Stuarts Draft; special nieces, Kirsten (Hunter) White and Karmen Vest; and many other nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.

Alice will be remembered for her fun loving spirit, her dedication to her kids, and her immeasurable love for her grandkids whom she loved “to the moon and back”.

A funeral was conducted Friday, June 28, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Dean Staton. Burial followed at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Hospice of the Shenandoah, especially the workers at the Shenandoah House. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice’s memory may be made to the Hospice of the Shenandoah.
