Linda Darnell Cooper, 75, of Lexington died Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital surrounded by family.

Born on Oct. 7, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Bernard Merchant Sr. and Laura Ester Cooper Merchant.

Linda was a member of Gospel Way Church of God in Christ. She retired from Washington and Lee University and after retirement was employed with Kroger.

Surviving are siblings, Ronnie Murray, James Cooper Sr., Dennis Merchant Sr., William Merchant, Margaret Lyle, Carolyn Jackson, and Patricia Knight; aunt, Ophelia Payne; special nephew, James Cooper; special friends, Jeanne Nicely-Staton, Jackie Walker, Nancy Hostetter, and Reverend Miles; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by Bishop Phillip Green.  Burial will follow at Long Family Cemetery in Collierstown.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Harrison Funeral Home.
