KAREN ROBERTS
KAREN ROBERTS
To cherish and carry on her memory are her loving husband, Eason; her daughter, Brandy Hostetter (Jason); her daughterin- law, Joylle; her grandbabies, Jaycee Hostetter, Jorgia Hostetter, Kimber Roberts, Josie Hostetter and Colt Roberts; and many family and friends.
She is now reunited with her son Bart Roberts whom she lost way too soon.
For years, she volunteered her time teaching Sunday school and driving the church van at Victory Baptist Church. She loved watching the kids learn and be given the opportunity to ask Jesus into their hearts. She bought many Bibles for kids and always shared her favorite verse, John 3:16.
Karen served her community by being a volunteer for the Buena Vista Rescue Squad for 15 plus years. She was an EVOC driver, served as the treasurer’s assistant and cooked many meals for fundraisers. She loved going to the apple orchard each year to get pumpkins and apples for the fall festival. She was able to share this opportunity with her family as they were all volunteers throughout the years.
Karen worked at the Buena Vista Court house for 23 years with dedicating majority of her career in the Treasurer’s Office. She loved talking to customers, giving candy to the children, and treats to the dogs. If she had the extra money, she never batted an eye to help someone keep their water on.
Not eating a meal at Karen’s house wasn’t an option. She always wanted to make sure that when you left your belly was full. She fixed many meals for Bart and Brandy’s friends and would sit at her dining room table making extra sandwiches for Bart and Eason to take to work for others. She loved to tell Eason how to cook when he had to take over for her.
Family and friends were important to Karen, but nothing could ever compare to the love that she had for her grandbabies. She had many memories of sneaking and putting blush on their cute cheeks, she loved when they painted her fingernails, ride their bikes/scooters, hearing about what piece of equipment they got to ride, and the list could go on. It made her day to get pictures, FaceTime, but most importantly having sleepovers where they would all pile in the living room together. So, if Karen bragged to you about her grandbabies, and you see them out, keep her wonderful stories she shared about them living and let them know how special they were to her.
A special thanks to the Buena Vista Rescue Squad/Fire Department/ Police Department, Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital, DaVita Dialysis Center, Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab, and ConnectionsPlus Healthcare+Hospice for your excellent care that Karen always received.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m. at the Buena Vista Fire Department. We welcome family and friends to come celebrate Karen.
