She was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Augusta County, the daughter of the late Helen Marie Morris Downey and step-daughter of the late Jim Downey.

Frances was a lifelong housewife and homemaker.

She loved her family and growing flowers in her garden.

Frances is survived by her children, James Hicks and wife Brenda of Craigsville, Linda Anderson of Waynesboro, and Michael Hicks and significant other Darlyn Stone of Goshen; seven grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and half-sister Barbara Downey.

The family also wants to give a special thanks to everyone at Shenandoah House.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James Robert Hicks.

A graveside memorial service was conducted Monday, Aug. 19, at Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery by Pastor Scott Reese.
