LEE KING

LEE KING

Burgess Lee King, 59, of Buena Vista passed away on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at the University of Virginia Hospital, after sustaining severe injuries in an ATV accident a few blocks from his home.

Lee was born April 30, 1965, in Lexington to Andrew and Katherine King. From an early age, Lee was known for his passion for anything mechanical; he was intrigued by how things worked and then tearing them apart and rebuilding them. He always loved tinkering around in his garage on ATVs, automobiles, and a race car or two. Lee was never one to be idle and most of the time you could find him out in his garage messing around with something. He will forever be remembered for his love and passion for race cars and racing.

He graduated from Parry Mc-Cluer High School in 1985 and worked at local manufacturing businesses in the area until 2020.

Lee was complicated … but not really. He was a deep thinker, had a dry sense of humor and had a laugh that was genuine and easily forthcoming. He had a big heart and loved strongly and passionately. He really loved the two cats that he has left behind: Ziggy and Lucky. He often worried about Lucky – his constant garage companion who had charmed her way into his life a year ago. She was a free spirit and liked to roam the neighborhood; he would often call family to come be part of the search party for her. His other cat, Ziggy, that he had had for a good number of years, was his constant companion inside the house and they had a strong connection. His kitties are lost without him.

Lee was predeceased by his parents, Andrew King and Katherine C. King.

He leaves behind his daughter, Megan Clark and her fiancé Alex Chittum; his three grandchildren, Nathaniel Clark, Zoe Clark and McKenzie Clark; his siblings, sister Vickie Eppard and her husband Paul Eppard, brother Drew King and Doris Mikels, sister Kay King, and sister Katrina Butner and her husband Tim Butner – all of Buena Vista; a nephew, Christopher Tolley Sr., and Carolyn Holtman; his nieces, Brianne Heisel and her husband Marc, and Devon Knick and her husband Patrick.

Lee was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

A funeral was conducted Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel. Lee was laid to rest beside his parents in the family plot at Green Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services. NG
