CECIL SEAMAN

Cecil Edwin Seaman, 80, of Buena Vista, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024. 

He was born July 11, 1944, in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Clarence Seaman and Marie Lawhorne Seaman.

Cecil was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed his life-long work.  Cecil was an avid hunter and fisherman, but as time went on, he enjoyed the watching aspect of the pastime.  He loved the mountains and the beach. Cecil loved watching Jayla and Charlie play sports and spoke proudly of them.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Billy Seaman and Jimmy Seaman. 

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Harriet “Dale” Seaman; daughter, Brooke Baker (Chuck); son, Jody Seaman; grandchildren, Jayla Baker Dixon (Isaiah), Charlie Baker, and Katelyn Baker Garrett (Dylan); great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Baker Garrett; siblings, Phyllis Wray (Harvey), Jerry Seaman (Margaret), Clarence Seaman, (Wanda), Larry Wayne Seaman (Wanda); brother-in-law, John Coleman (Vickie); sisters-in-law, Betty Seaman of Lexington and Betty Seaman of Bedford; a special niece, Megan Martinez (Jeff) and their daughter, Josie; numerous other nieces and nephews; and special family, Mark and Katie Smith.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Victory BaptistChurch with Rev. Dean Staton officiating. 

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connections Plus Hospice of Rockbridge or the Wildlife Center of Virginia, Waynesboro.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
