Condé Glasgow Feddeman of Lexington, wife of the late Dr. Frederick Augustus Feddeman, was born on Aug. 15, 1923, and died peacefully at home on Aug. 31, 2024. 

Mrs. Feddeman was the daughter of Charles Spears Glasgow of Lexington and Constance Carter Edwards Glasgow of St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. Feddeman was raised in Lexington, attended Stuart Hall in Staunton, The Mary Wheeler School in Providence, R.I., the University of Geneva in Geneva, Switzerland, and the Myers School of Design in New York, N.Y. 

She was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Pharmacist’s Mate Third Class in the WAVES division of the Navy. After the war, she married the late Dr. William Cunningham Crittenden of Birmingham, Ala., where she lived and raised her family. In 1985 she returned to Lexington and married Dr. Feddeman. She was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, the Blue Ridge Garden Club and The Colonial Dames.

Mrs. Feddeman was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents and her two brothers, Charles Spears Glasgow II and Francis Thomas Glasgow III, and by two sons, Edward Wright Crittenden and Richard Cunningham Crittenden. 

She is survived by two sons, Francis Thomas Glasgow Crittenden (Christianna) and Malcolm McPheeters Crittenden (Kimberly); her daughter, Constance Elloway Crittenden; and her daughter-in-law, Virginia Miller Crittenden; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Rockbridge Area Hospice with special gratitude for Mrs. Feddeman’s “Care Team” including Dr. Cathryn Harbor, Karen Kinder, Hope Wilmore, Pamela White, Liz Norman and volunteer, Laurie Bassie.

A graveside service will be held at Lexington’s Oak Grove Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2. A gathering at 22 Whitmore St. for family and friends will follow the service.
