DAVID GILLESPIE

David Albert Gillespie, 76, of Natural Bridge Station died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

Born April 24, 1948, he was a son of Ruth Schwind Gillespie and John Albert Gillespie.

He was a retired U.S. Postal carrier and an avid caver.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Gillespie; children, Lyte Gillespie, John Gillespie, Davy Gillespie and Sam Gillespie; grandchildren Quinten, Kala, Seth, Alexander, Soren, Ray, Kendal, Aiden, Alice; four great-grandchildren; and special friends Steve and Donna Bates.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.

NANCY DICKINSON

Nancy Loughhead Dickinson, 76, of Buena Vista, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024.

Born Oct. 16, 1947, in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Palmer Loughhead and Mary Jane Gilbert Loughhead.

She was also preceded in death by her son, John “Jayde” Harvey Dickinson IV; sister, Susan Cullen; and brothers, David Clifford Loughhead and Richard Gilbert “Dutch” Loughhead.

NancywasamemberofBuena Vista United Methodist Church. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Nancy was a PMHS cheer captain and supporter of PM athletics. She was a dedicated employee and friend of the Rockbridge Area Occupational Center friends and she loved and supported the J.D. Dickinson Memorial Foundation.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, John “Skip” Harvey Dickinson III; daughter, Sarah Dickinson Watts (Shane); daughter-in-law, Amanda Dickinson; five grandchildren, Caroline Watts, Jeremiah Watts, Hayden Watts, Audrey Dickinson and Emma Dickinson; sister, Kathy Harrington (Cyril); brother-in-law, David Cullen; sisters-in-law, Judy Loughhead and Connie Loughhead; many beloved nieces and nephews; and special cousin, Paula Bell Charlton.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Hung Su Lim and Pastor Adam Williams officiating.

Family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connections Plus Hospice.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
