JOYCE CAMPBELL

JOYCE CAMPBELL

Joyce Clements Campbell, 84, of Timber Ridge passed suddenly and peacefully at her home on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Walker Clements and Louise Leona Cline Clements.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 46 years, Lewis “Buck” Campbell; and her five children, Andrew “Mick” Flint (Teri) of Virginia Beach, Connie Craig (Bobby) of Timber Ridge, Edward Grow (Terry) of Waynesboro, Robert C. Grow (Lauri) of Lititz, Pa., and Carman Link (Chris) of Rockbridge County.

She was called GrannyMa, Grandma and Nanny by her 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Ajkay (Nicolas), Andrea Noe, Richard Peck, Hassie Cooke (Russell), Haden Grow, Robbie, Hunter and Tommy Grow, Jordan, Blake Sam Camden; and six great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Gabriella Ajkay, Kaleb, Kaden and Kyler Noe, and Amare Peck.

She was the second of four children and is survived by brother Robert W. Clements Jr. of Timber Ridge, sister Patricia “Trick” McKay (Jim) of Stevensville, Md., and sister Barbara King of Fairfield.

Joyce could rarely leave the house without running into one of her many cousins, nieces, nephews or friends. This was one of her greatest joys. When she would run into someone she knew, catching up with them would make her day. Joyce was well known in the area and her bright, bubbly personality was contagious.

Joyce served as “The Avon Lady” to many loyal customers for 40-plus years and was rarely seen without her red lipstick on. She loved hats and had one for every outfit and occasion. She and “Buck” could often be found at dances in the area and enjoyed camping with family and friends.

She worked at various jobs over the years and made many friends everywhere she worked. Joyce retired as a Rockbridge County school bus driver in 2001 after 10plus years of transporting students of all ages. She volunteered for various youth organizations over the years, the Women of the Moose and the Fairfield Rescue Squad Auxiliary. She was a member of the Timber Ridge A.R. Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive those who wish to pay their respects today, Wednesday, Jan. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Harrison’s Funeral Home in Lexington. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Timber Ridge A.R. Presbyterian Church, where ladies may wear a hat of your choice as a tribute to Joyce. After the burial, family and friends are invited to the residence of Carman and Chris Link for food and a celebration of Joyce’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to offset funeral expenses.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory. N-G
