Dorman Wayne Mook “Jr.,” 79, of Buena Vista died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at his home.

Born Sept. 28, 1944, he was the son of Dorman Mook Sr. and Primrose Hartless. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Janette Mook and her younger brother whom was like a son, Allan Smith; sister, Joyce Falls, and a great-granddaughter Sophia Chittum. 

Surviving are his three children, Lorrie Mook, Amanda Mook, and Dorman Mook III; grandchildren, Mason Montgomery, Autumn Chittum, Hailie Montgomery, Kevin Chittum, Zackary Mook, Evan Mook, and Brianna Mook; and great-granddaughter Scarlet Chittum. 

He retired from the city of Buena Vista after 30 years, and went back to work for the county recycling center up until 2020. Dorman loved the outdoors and spent any chance he got hunting or fishing with his family and friends. He loved motorcycles, specifically his Harley that he’s had for 25 years. He also enjoyed just getting out of the house going for rides, and eating at every restaurant in town. Most evenings you could find him on his back porch waving at everyone he knew and occasionally taking a nap. 

Dorman will be greatly missed by family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held at the Seventh-DayAdventist Church in Buena Vista at a later date.
