Born June 20, 1933, in Sunrise, Va., she was the daughter of the late William L. Curry and May Jewel Townsend Curry.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husbands, James “Ed” Keyes and Charles “Buddy” Smals; two daughters, Martha Duff and Barbara Keyes; grandsons, Matthew Scott Keyes and Greg Buzzard; and two sisters, Mildred Hendricks and Nancy Malcolm.
She lived her entire life serving her Lord and Savior. Not a day went by where she couldn’t be found reading her Bible and praying for her family. She yearned for the day that she would meet her Savior face to face. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Surviving are daughter, Betty Trainer (Marshall); sons, Larry Keyes (Cindy) and John William Keyes (Pam); stepdaughters, Donna Cole (Danny) and Kathy Adcock (Willie); stepson, Ronald Smals (Susan); grandchildren, Michele Clark (Howie), Teresa Mason (George), Stacey Walker (Justin), Jodie Lowder (Jonathan), Alan Wayne Buzzard (Shonna), Jonathon Keyes (Ashley), Brandi Keyes (Matt), Josh Cranston (Meredith), Emily Williard (Matt), step-grandchild, Brandon Smals; numerous greatgrandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren; and sister, Dotty Hevener (Julian).
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Hamilton and the Rev. W. David Bain officiating.
