Elizabeth "Libby" Jane McCurdy Burch, 88, of Rockbridge Baths passed away Oct. 17, 2024.

She was married to the late Connie Radcliff Burch Jr. for 58 years and they resided in Rockbridge Baths.

Surviving is her only daughter, Constance Elizabeth Burch.

Libby was a resident of Rockbridge County for 87 years of her life and was the Rockbridge County voting registrar.  She enjoyed gardening, being outside, canning many vegetables, growing strawberries and making strawberry preserves, cracking black walnuts, working in her flower beds, and she loved all animals, especially her cats.  She was also known for speaking her mind while also being one of the kindest people you could ever meet.

She also worked in the Chemistry Department at VMI and was also a legal secretary for a few years.  When she retired, she spent her time outdoors and taking care of her cats. She loved cinnamon buns and pancakes with peanut butter and syrup even after being diagnosed with diabetes and every doctor she ever met was amazed at her health condition and praised her for taking care of herself.

Her home was always warm and inviting and welcoming to neighbors and family for card games, family celebrations and reunions, family visits and to anyone who needed to feel loved.

In lieu of a service and sending flowers, the family request donations to the humane society in her memory.  (She would love that.)
