Mary Frances “Fran” McNemar, of Fairfield, was born at home on Oct. 10, 1942, in Buena Vista to Walter Henry and Blanche Virginia Tomlin. She passed away peacefully at Havenwood on Oct. 19, 2024, at the age of 82 years after a lengthy and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia.

Fran was a strong Christian and is now reunited with her Lord and Savior. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold Randolph “Ron” McNemar; sister Kathie (Lucas) Hutton; and daughters Nina Blair (Steven) Reed of Nashville, Tenn., and Jodi McNemar (Kenny) Myers of Mt. Sidney. Also surviving are grandchildren John (Shannon) Reed, Andrew (Jessica) Reed with great-granddaughters Maddy and Charlotte, Kara (Alex) Carls; Selah (Jeff Messer) Myers and Kendal Myers. She was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Tomlin, and brother, Ralph Tomlin. She is survived by many loving nephews and nieces.

Fran graduated as salutatorian from Parry McCluer High School in 1960. She earned an art certificate via mail order in the ‘60s and was a dedicated artist in various mediums, particularly drawing and painting, throughout her lifetime. She could make anything more beautiful and enjoyed her time decorating and creating as a homemaker. When the children became middle school age, Fran worked for a law office, then for an orthodontics practice in Winchester, Ky., where she and Ron lived for 26 years.

After retiring to Fairfield in 1998, she and Ron proudly remodeled their home, the old Swan Inn, for over 25 years. Fran was an active and long-term member of the Winchester and Fairfield Presbyterian churches. She took particular joy in creating the History Room and participating with and teaching the youth in Sunday school at the Fairfield Presbyterian Church.

Fran was known for her painting/ artistry, flower gardening, fashion style, primitive and antique interior decorating, delicious cooking, friendly smile and warm laughter. She enjoyed all holidays, especially Christmas, creating many decorations using her own creativity.

The family is especially thankful for the support by Connections Plus Hospice Services, Fairfield Presbyterian Church, and Havenwood. The care, love, and attention are much appreciated by the family.

A celebration of life was conducted at Fairfield Presbyterian Church on Thursday, Oct. 24, by the Rev. Punker Robertson. Interment was private.
