VINCENT SMOTHERS
He was born Aug. 25, 1960, in Clifton Forge to Emmanuel Augustine Smothers and Linnett Lumildred Brown Smothers.
He was a team leader for Cornerstone Building Brands in Stuarts Draft and a former bellman at The Homestead Resort. He grew up in Mt. Zion Church, Millboro. Vincent loved the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with family. He served in the United States Navy from November 1980 to January 1984.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Emmanuel Smothers Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Braxton Smothers of Millboro; a daughter, Marshelle Smothers of Waynesboro; a son, Xavier Smothers of Millboro; a brother, Alvin Smothers and Felix Kessler; two nephews, Sean Cardwell and Adrian Brown; sister-in-law, Latonya Brown; and mother-in-law, Gloria Braxton.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge by the Rev. Cornelius Ray. Interment will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Alexander, Stefan Brown, Calvin Scott, Donald Scott, Stewart Alexander and Hezekiah Alexander. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home.
