MARGARET BAILEY

Margaret Farley Bailey passed away at home in Buena Vista on Nov. 11, 2024, due to complications from cancer. 

She was born Margaret Louise McLaughlin on Oct. 23, 1938, in Ann Arbor, Mich., to Laura Elizabeth (Hill) and Dean Benjamin McLaughlin.

Margaret worked as a cytotechnologist at the University of Texas at Tyler Medical Center for more than 35 years. After retiring in 2005, she moved to Buena Vista to be closer to family. 

Her life-long passion for photography and scrapbooking endeared her to many friends, neighbors, and community members. She often distributed extra photos from her careful chronicling of family and community events. She blessed many with her willingness to provide transportation for those in need to doctor appointments and errands.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lawrence Farley and Meldrum Bailey; son, Gregory Farley; sisters, Elizabeth Schick and Alberta Dawson; and grandson, Zachary Shiraki. 

She is survived by her remaining siblings, Dean McLaughlin and Sarah Camp; daughters, Wendy Fenn, Marie Shiraki and Janell Farley; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

A funeral will be held at the Buena Vista Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m. She will be interred at Cathedral in the Pines Memorial Garden in Tyler, Texas. A graveside service will be held there on Dec. 3 at 1 p.m.
