Born July 28, 1942, he was a son of the late Charles Coleman Vess Sr. and Mary Miller Vess.

Also preceding him in death were his wife, Alice Faye Sorrells Vess; and siblings Donald Vess, Leonard Vess, Loretta Tyree and Ernestine Vess.

Surviving are his daughter, Nicky Lee Vess; brothers, John Vess, Tommy Vess and William Vess; and sisters, Barbara Ann Vest, Carolyn Buchanan, Lillian Porter and Kathy Vess.

Charles is also survived by his “grandcats,” which were his close companions and loved very much.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Langston Donkle.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory.
