Octavia Monae Richardson, 20, of Buena Vista passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 24, 2024.

Though her time with us was far too short, Octavia touched the lives of everyone she met with her infectious laughter, bright spirit, and loving smile. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Billy “BJ” Coleman; Charles Bartlett; aunt Helen Bartlett; and grandparents Charles Wilford and Louise Bartlett.

Octavia was born on Aug. 22, 2004, in Lexington to Phillip Bartlett and Rhonda Richardson. She is survived by her parents, Phillip Bartlett and Maritha and Charles Richardson, as well as her siblings, Rayshan and Kamilah Richardson, Ezekeil Bartlett, and Desiree, Bella, and Natalia Flint. She was also a niece to Wanda Asinor (Emmanuel), Delorise Boateng (Apatoa), and Tasha Coleman (BJ), and a cousin to Eleannah and William Coleman, Abraham and Adayah Boateng, Jason and Damian Bartlett, Larry Wayne Clark, Timothy Smith and Lisa Hartless.

Octavia had a passion for coloring and painting, ballet, reading, and writing. She loved spending time with her family, especially her siblings and cousins, and enjoyed hanging out with her best friend, Emily Clark. Octavia had a smile that could light up a room and a hug that could make any worry disappear. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, huge heart, and compassion for others.

A viewing and memorial service will be held on Nov. 29 from 2 to 3 p.m. (viewing) and 3 to 4 p.m. (service) at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Services. 

A repast will follow the service at Victory Baptist Church, located at 36 Street and Lombardy Avenue, Buena Vista. The family is receiving visitors at 848 E. 24th St., Buena Vista.
