REGINALD FIX

REGINALD FIX

Reginald “Monk” Allen Fix, 83, of Buena Vista, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024.

He was born Nov. 2, 1941, in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Decker R. Fix Sr. and Nellie Wolfe Fix.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Decker R. Fix Jr., Virginia F. Breeden, Vivian Sue Comer, June F. Page, and Normagene F. Coffey. Reginald was the last living member of his immediate family.

Reg graduated from Parry McCluer High School in 1960 and then went into the Air Force where he served in Vietnam for four years. He served on the Ground Weapons Crew for B57 Canberra from 1963 to 1967, Danang Phan Rang, Clark Air Base in the Philippines. He received the rank of E4 Airman 1st Class, Senior Airman. He loved his time in the service and loved telling stories about his time served and about all of his military brothers whom were close to him over the years. They were always planning trips, phone calls, reunions and get-togethers.

He worked for the State Department Survey Party and that let him to Charlottesville where he worked and retired from the City in the Gas Division with over 30 years of service.

Reg was an avid hunter and loved everything that pertained to outdoors. He was a Free Mason and a member of the American Legion Post 126. Reg was a smart and knowledgeable man in many subjects. He loved talking about sports, politics, hunting, and fishing, but mostly of his time in the service. He was reunited with all of his military brothers in the ‘90s and therefore had a special bond that was very dear to him.

Surviving are many cousins, nieces and nephews, and a special niece, Emilie “Emmie” Fix Staton and husband, Danny, and their children, DJ and Timmy, whom were his caregivers his entire life; and many friends.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Green Hill Cemetery with Pastor Butch Grow officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Legion Post 126 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
