BETTY BROWN
BETTY BROWN
She was born Aug. 20, 1939, in Rockbridge County, the daughter of William Howard Pleasants and Cora Evelyn Pleasants.
Betty was the honorary mayor of Brownsburg and a member of the Brownsburg Community Association. She served as postmaster relief at the Brownsburg Post Office, retiring in 2016. She was an avid and devoted member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Brownsburg and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Betty also was an associate at the Brownsburg Museum, belonged to the Fairfield Sunshine Fellowship, and was a member of the Buena Vista Senior Center.
She was also preceded in death by her sons, Lewis Michael and Gary Lee Brown; and her grandson, Christopher S. Quarles.
Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years, Louis Opal Brown; son, William Edward Brown; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Brown, Rebecca Henderson, and Jennifer Siders (Earl); special granddaughter, Robin; eight grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and a host of other relatives and very dear friends.
There will be a memorial service in May 2025.
