EDDIE SLOUGH
EDDIE SLOUGH
Robert Edward “Eddie” Slough, 74, of Stuarts Draft, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024.
Eddie was born in Rockbridge County July 9, 1950, to Robert Edward “Bobby” Slough, Sr. and Elton Cash Slough.
He grew up in the “Frog Bottom” area of Buena Vista where he had many friends, one of them being his first cousin, James “Punk” Smith, whom he got into all kinds of adventures with. Like most people in our neighborhood, Bobby worked at James Lees Carpets, money one week good not so much the next, so Eddie got a job at Quality Super Market racking soda bottles three days a week until he got old enough to work in the store.
Now that he had a job, next came his passion for music. He played the drums and played in many bands with the local Buena Vista boys, too many to name. He worked his way up to meat cutter and stayed with Quality until its closing. He got a job at Food Lion, worked there until he retired. Eddie liked NASCAR, sports, the mountains, the beach and making sure his home looked nice, but most of all he loved to laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anita Campbell Slough; daughter, Kimberly Dawn Slough; two grandchildren, Christopher D.T. Bell and Sephora C. M. Bell; brother, Lonnie Dean Slough and wife Joanne and their children, Iris Zullo (Scott) and Paula Hart (Mike); sister, Marlene Slough Hardin and husband Reid and their children, Stacy Swisher, Perry Hardin (Ashley); six great-nieces, and four great-nephews.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
It is going to be hard to walk through this world without you, but you taught us enough, so we can do it. Rest in peace Big Brother, you will never be forgotten.
Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
