Bernice Joeleen Sandidge Lewis, 90, of Buena Vista passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2024. 

She was born Dec. 27, 1933, in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Bernard Sandidge and Sadie Wiseman Sandidge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Payne Lewis Jr.; son, William Mark Painter; sister, Nancy Sandidge Gilliam; and brother, Harold “Red” Sandidge.

 Surviving are her son, Eric D. Painter and wife Sheri of Jeannette, Pa.; stepdaughter, Tracy Lewis Treen and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Ryan Painter, of Greensburg, Pa., Chad Painter and Jenna Painter of Jeannette, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by Pastors Butch Grow and Tommy Johnson. Burial will follow at Rockbridge MemorialGardens.  

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
