SYLVIA LOUDERMILK
Mrs. Loudermilk was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Winfield, W.Va., to Golden Lincoln Harvey and Gertrude Butler Harvey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Ray Harvey, Everette Harvey and Alvin Harvey; sisters Nellie Harvey, Mamie Mitchell, Lilly Whittington, Earnie Meade, Rosie Coleman and Alice Morgan.
Sylvia was a member of Manly Memorial Baptist Church where she faithfully served as a children’s Sunday school teacher, VBS helper, Mother’s Morning Out and Noah’s Ark pre-school leader. She also kept children in her home for many years. Because of her love and devotion to little ones, pre-schoolers, and kids, Sylvia answered to several affectionately donned names such as Nana, Miss Sylvia and Granny. She thoroughly enjoyed nurturing the lives of children while sharing the love of Jesus with each one.
On July 9, 1955, Sylvia married Marvin Raymond Loudermilk, who also preceded her in death. Surviving are son Michael E. Loudermilk and wife Barbara of Lexington; daughter Lisa K. Pullen and husband Eric of Shenandoah; grandson Michael T. Loudermilk of Lexington; granddaughter Amanda L. Loudermilk and wife Joy of Lexington; great-grandson Benjamin Loudermilk of Lexington; sister-in-Christ Brenda Archer of Greensboro, N.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A funeral service was conducted at Manly Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington on Tuesday, Dec. 17, by pastors Skyler Daniel and Dr. Thomas Harvey. Burial followed in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her remembrance may be made to ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice and Many Memorial Baptist Church.
