JESSIE BRADS

Jessie Velt Brads of Lexington, born Sept. 30, 1941, to Raymond Tolbert Brads and Margaret Elizabeth Hinkle Brads, passed away Dec. 12, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.

Jessie retired from the city of Lexington public works after 42 dedicated years. Although a man of very few words, his reliability and determination spoke volumes in the lives of those he loved!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jean Brads; three brothers, Hurlie, James and John Brads; and four sisters, Thelma Carter, Loretta Brads, Mary Kathleen Clark and Elsie Gleason.

Surviving are his children, two sons, Kenneth “Moot” McKemy and Raymond Brads (Janet), and a daughter, Nancy Brads Frazier (Adam); a grandson, Jonathan Brads; a granddaughter, Rachel Brads; two great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, many nieces and nephews, and one special nephew who he thought of more as a little brother, Billy Brads.

The family would like to extend a special, heartfelt “Thank You” to ConnectionsPlus Healthcare+Hospice, especially to Karen and Christine for the amazing care provided for our Dad!

A celebration of life will be held today, Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Sam Houston Ruritan Barn, located at 1260 Valley Pike in Lexington, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to ConnectionsPlus Healthcare+Hospice in Jessie’s honor.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
