BERNICE LEWIS
She was born Dec. 27, 1933, in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Bernard Sandidge and Sadie Wiseman Sandidge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Payne Lewis Jr.; son, William Mark Painter; sister, Nancy Sandidge Gilliam; and brother, Harold “Red” Sandidge.
Surviving are her son, Eric D. Painter and wife Sheri of Jeannette, Pa.; stepdaughter, Tracy Lewis Treen and husband Richard; grandchildren, Ryan Painter, of Greensburg, Pa., Chad Painter and Jenna Painter of Jeannette, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was conducted Thursday, Dec. 19, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by Pastors Butch Grow and Tommy Johnson. Burial followed at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

PATRICIA DINDINGER Patricia Elizabeth Bracken Dindinger, 95, of Lexington died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at Kendal of Lexington.
Born Oct. 24, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of Joseph Paul Bracken and Patricia Kelly Bracken.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Wilson Dindinger, retired colonel, USMC.
Patricia was a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Staunton and a dedicated member of the Kendal Singers while residing at Kendal of Lexington.
Surviving are her children, Gail Flintom (John), Heidi Smoot (Will), John Dindinger (Debi), Tad Dindinger (René) and Leigh Mayo (Mike); 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will by the Rev. John Peterson will be held at the Memorial Rose Garden at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Staunton in May 2025.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Covenant Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
