JIM PRYOR
JIM PRYOR
Born on Feb. 18, 1946, in Lexington, Jim lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and community.
Jim graduated from Parry McCluer High School before serving his country as a proud member of the United States Air Force. Following his service, he built a long and successful career with Virginia Dominion Power, retiring after years of hard work and commitment. A man of deep faith, Jim was a lifelong member of Buena Vista Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
In his leisure time, Jim found joy on the golf course with his loyal foursome and took immense pride in maintaining a pristine lawn. His love for these simple pleasures reflected his appreciation for life’s everyday blessings.
Above all else, Jim was an incredible family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Geralene “Gerri” Carper Pryor; his son, Kevin Pryor and wife Sara of Arlington; his daughter, Kelly Pryor Bryan and husband Paul of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Judy Watts (Mac); brother, Bill “Sonny” Pryor; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was also known as “PaJim” to three cherished grandchildren who brought him endless joy.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Ethel Pryor; his parents-in-law, Bill and Phyllis Carper; and sister Patsy Hogan. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The family will welcome all for a celebration of Jim’s life at their Buena Vista family home on Jan. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.
A life well-lived leaves a lasting legacy. May Jim’s memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.
