NELSON CROUSHORN

NELSON CROUSHORN

Nelson Lee Croushorn died Jan. 10, 2025, at the UVA MedicalCenter in Charlottesville.

He was born on June 4, 1944, in Harrisonburg, the second son of Marvin and Carmen (Tasker) Croushorn. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. In 1951 the family moved to Fairfield, where they established Hilltop View Farm, an Angus cattle operation.

Nelson spent most of his adult work life both on the farm and as a tractor-trailer driver.

He was an owner-operator for 14 years, then drove for Nibco's Stuarts Draft division for 17 years. After retirement he devoted himself to farming and expanding the operation at Hilltop View Farm.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother George Nicholas Croushorn, auctioneer.

Surviving him are his beloved wife, Susan Coleman-Croushorn, whom he married in 2002; two sons, Jason (Jennifer) of Raphine and Jeffrey(Stephanie) of Natural Bridge; two granddaughters, Jacey Lynn and Jaylee Nicole Croushorn of Raphine; two nieces, Wanda C. Allen and Donna C. Langfitt, both of Fairfield; several grand-nieces and nephews.

Nelson was a member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church where he served two terms as a deacon. He was an avid antique car collector and a member of the Virginia-Maryland Edsel Owners Club for 50-plus years. In addition, he was an enthusiastic model train collector, a member of the Train Collectors Association, and a regular attendee of the TCA spring and fall meets in York, Pa.

Nelson will be missed by his family and many friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Harrison Funeral Home by the Rev. N. Alan Lipscomb. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, 6410 Lee-Jackson Highway, Steeles Tavern, VA 24476, or to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory.
