POLLY SPANGLER

POLLY SPANGLER

Mary Alice (Polly) Shiflett Spangler went to her heavenly home on Jan. 9, 2025.

She was born on Jan. 12, 1930, to Philip Shiflett Sr. and Mabel Smith Shiflett. Polly was one of seven children.

She married Malvern H. Spangler Sr. and was the mother to Malvern H Jr. (Willie), Susan, and Richard Spangler (all deceased).

She is survived by two sisters, Cecelia Shiflett Galmish of Vinton and Debby Shiflett Coffey (Ronnie) of Buena Vista; four grandchildren, Hollie, Jennifer, Nicole and Chris; and four greatgrandchildren. She also leaves behind special neighbors and friends Deneen and Joe Davis of Glasgow.

Polly graduated from PMHS and went to work the next day at James Lees and Sons, Glasgow, until age 65.

She was a devoted servant to God, country and community, and served with Glasgow Rescue Squad Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, Glasgow Fire Department Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 126. She was a longtime member of BVPC, as well as Glasgow PC, and was currently attending Faith Baptist Church.

The family wishes to thank Shenandoah Valley Nursing and Rehab and Rockbridge Area Hospice for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Rockbridge Area Hospice, or a local rescue squad or fire department.

A memorial service will be held at Faith Baptist Church, 15 Faith Baptist Church Circle, Natural Bridge Station, at noon on Saturday, Jan. 18, with the Rev. Terry Bostic officiating. Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
