He was born May 1, 1939, in Lexington, the son of the late John A. and Evelyn Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Mae Worth Smith; his daughter, Cynthia Gail Hamlett; and his brother, Harry Smith.

Surviving are his two grandchildren, Brandon Wright and Jamie Wright.

The family received friends Saturday, Jan. 11, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home.
