CANDY HICKS

CANDY HICKS

Phyllis Marie Peters Hicks, 65, of Lexington was called to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, one day shy of her 66th birthday. She was the daughter of Robert and Gladys Venning Peters. Candy, as she was affectionately known to friends and family, was a devout member of First Baptist Church of Natural Bridge. A strong and active member, Candy sang in the church choir, was the church clerk, and a worship leader (with other things sprinkled in). Spring was a happy time of the year for Candy because with spring came the start of the yard sale season and Candy loved a yard sale. She would travel near and far for a yard sale. She also had a love and affinity for the University of Virginia. Although she was not an alum, she had a die-hard allegiance to the Cavaliers. Candy’s love of family was undeniable. William (Will) was the love of her life.

The majority of the time if you saw one you saw the other. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild gave her immeasurable joy and her love for them knew no bounds.

Candy was a part of the Sayre Enterprises team and truly loved her work. In addition to her parents, Candy was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Peters.

Surviving are her husband, William Albert Hicks Jr.; daughters, Kashka Peters and Tabatha Peters; stepdaughters, Chynisha Mayo and Keyshana Briggs; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brother, Neal Andrew Peters.

Candy, go rest high, read your poetry, and rejoice, you now have your long white robe!

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Ryan Hubbard. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory. NG
