Margaret Jane Collins Scurry, 95, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at Saluda Nursing Center in Saluda, S.C.

Born in Greer, S.C., and the daughter of the late Oscar Raymond Collins and Carrie Lou Burnett Collins, she was the wife of the late Frederick Grant “F.G.” Scurry Jr. 

She had attended Spartanburg Junior College and was a homemaker. Mrs. Scurry was a member of both the Eastern Star and Higgins Grainge, as well as Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church. She had a profound love for playing the piano at church for her church family. 

Surviving are a daughter, Janice Preston (Tony) of Fairfield; a son, Grant Scurry (Nancy) of Rock Hill; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Scurry of Saluda; two grandchildren, Sam Scurry (Amanda) of Augusta, Ga., and Caitlin Scurry Johnston (Graham) of Houston, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Griffin and Grady Johnston. 

Mrs. Scurry was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Scurry, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Scurry. 

A funeral service was held on Friday, Jan. 31, at Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Christopher Mitchell officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
