BOB FERGUSON
BOB FERGUSON
Bob was born in Worcester, Mass., and raised in Pennsylvania and Springfield. He earned his undergraduate degree from Frederick College in Portsmouth, and later obtained a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Virginia.
Bob dedicated 35 years to teaching mathematics in Fairfax County Schools, serving at Robert E. Lee High School and Lake Braddock Secondary School. He was also a passionate coach for football and track. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time in the Outer Banks and embracing life as a gentleman farmer in Lexington. After retirement from teaching, Bob worked with his son and daughter in residential real estate for 20 years.
He was affectionately known as Grandpa BB, and his love and devotion to his family was unmatched. He was a constant figure in the stands of his children’s and grandchildren’s sports games, and he was known for his strong strawberry daiquiris, delicious beach breakfast feasts and dancing to the “Electric Slide” whenever possible. BB was always one to say, “I love you,” at the end of phone calls or visits.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Anne; his son, Robert, and his wife, Katie Ferguson; his daughter, Roberta Radun, and her husband, Joe; and six beloved grandchildren, Alexis, Garrett, John (J.R.), Patrick, Ava and Mitchell.
A memorial service was held at Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church on Monday, Feb. 10.
Arrangements were by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory. NG
