FRANKLIN MAYS

Franklin Elwood Mays, 85, of Buena Vista passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025. 

He was born Sept. 27, 1939, the son of Herbert V. Mays and Easter Mildred Pultz Mays.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry B. Mays, and sister, Donna Mays Reid.   

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Della Marie Southers Mays; children, Jodi Ann Dunford, Thomas Glenn Mays, Paul Brian Mays (Rebecca) and Julie Lynn Mays (Wayne); grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Dunford, Chadwick Wayne Dunford, Jessica Lynn Swinson (Brock), Charles Brian Mays (Ashley), Hilary Dawn Carter (Brandon), Samuel Thomas Mays (Angela) and Derek Wayne Carter (Sarah); great-grandchildren, Anna Colette Nagy, Carter Luke Nagy, Ezra Lee Carter-Miller, Stella Ryan Swinson, Morrison Brian Mays and Gray-Marie Mays; brother, Dave B. Mays; and sisters, Lois Mays Troxell, Polly Mays Nuckols (Joe), and Judy Mays Reid; sister-in-law, Pat Mays; and brother-in-law, Lester Mays. 

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Chris Guyer. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.
