His 38-year career at Virginia Military Institute gave him the opportunity to share his love of chemistry and research with many cadets and other professors.

During his retirement, Henry delved into writing novels which combined Christian fiction with historical happenings and scientific themes. To this date, he has published nine novels. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; gardening and spoiling his dog, Slim.

Recently, he just celebrated being able to say he beat cancer.

Henry was blessed to have loved and married two wonderful women in his life, Charlotte W. Schreiber and Helen Irvine. His love and devotion to both was one of his greatest attributes.

Surviving is his wife, Helen Irvine; daughters Lea Schreiber McQuinn (Scotty), Terri Schreiber Reagan, and Jennifer Irvine Slusser (Scott); grandchildren Amber Reagan, Meghan McQuinn Bollman (Tony), Joshua McQuinn, Bethany McQuinn, Morgan Slusser and Jaxon Slusser; great-grandchildren Journee Keaton and Kimani Roper; brother John E. Those he touched during his life will always be blessed to have called him their husband, their dad, their granddaddy, their PopPop and their friend. His love, smiles, words of wisdom and for being our strength and our rock through our lives will be greatly missed.
