Patricia Nicely "Nanny" Bane, 79, of Lexington died Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Born Dec. 21, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Charles Roscoe Nicely and Dessie Virginia Falls Nicely.

Also preceding her in death are her spouse, Sheridan Lawrence Bane; son, Jeffrey Lee Bane Sr.; and brothers, Kenton, Eddie and Wayne.

Nanny loved working in her garden with flowers, canning, helping her husband with lawn care, camping and spending time at the pool with her grandkids. She always stayed busy, creating crafty woodwork, checking on her family and friends (reminding them that she loved them). Her personality was unforgettable, impacting all the lives she ever came in contact with - never meeting a stranger. Family and friends will forever cherish and carry her memory with them.

Surviving are her children, Sheila Hall (Greg), Terry Link (Joey), and Darrell Bane (Deborah); stepchildren, Teresa Frazier and Sherry Bennington; siblings, Stephen Nicely (Patti), and Ronald Nicely (Sharon); sisters-in-law, Doris, Gail, Patti and Linda; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Rockbridge MemorialGardens by Dorsey Hostetter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Rockbridge SPCA, 10 Animal Place, Lexington, VA 24450, or Cedar Bluff BaptistChurch, P.O. Box 915, Buchanan, VA 24066.
