BARBARA CATLETT

Barbara was born on April 6, 1945, in Buena Vista, daughter of the late Rudolph “Rudy” Daniel Henson and Eunice Coleman Henson.
She was a Parry McCluer High School graduate, attended business school in New York, and was a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church. Barbara loved spending time with her family and friends, especially attending events for her grandchildren. She was a proud secretary for more than 40 years and especially enjoyed eating at Todd’s Barbecue Restaurant.
Barbara was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Fred William Catlett; son, Eric Samuel Catlett; and six siblings.
Surviving are son Chris Catlett of Amherst; one daughter, Marcie Carte (Cory) of Buena Vista; and six grandchildren, Hunter and Lily Catlett, Cassie and Maddie Carte, and Landon and Jorja Catlett. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Jennifer Catlett of Buena Vista; a brother, Robert “Apple” Henson; and four sisters, Edith Puryear, Bonnie Clements, Betty Jarvis, and Mary Jane Sirucek; special friends Jerry and Mary Austin and many other friends.
Barbara’s family and many friends will remember her with love and admiration. She will surely be missed but her sweet smile and kind, gentle legacy lives on in all the lives she touched throughout her life. She was a wonderful wife, Mama, Grammy, sister and friend.
A memorial service was held at St. John’s United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 13, under the leadership of Pastor Sung Hu Lim, Pastor Adam Williams and Brother Dorsey Hostetter.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice.
