She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth B. Van de Water Jr., and her mother, Mary Churchill Van de Water, and is survived by her brother, K. Brooke Van de Water III, and cousins in Petersburg, Raleigh, N.C., and New York State.

She was a life-long learner and educator during her career and was a member of many local organizations in Lexington. Julia couldn’t be just a member but served on state and national boards and committees of Lexington Investors Club, Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG), and the English Speaking Union (ESU). She enjoyed traveling to the meetings and conventions of the groups in the later part of her life.

She will be missed by her close friends, colleagues, and immediate family.
