GOLDIE BYERS 

Goldie Marie Tomlin Byers, 89, of Buena Vista went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 4, 2025. 

Goldie was a member of the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church since 2014 and formerly a beloved member of Oronoco Brethren Church in Amherst. 

She is preceded in death by her son, Tony Randall “Randy” Byers; her mother, Edna T. Tomlin; father John “Smiley” Tomlin; former husband of 25 years, James Carl Byers; three brothers, one sister and many other family members.

Goldie was a caregiver to many special friends in the community over the years and a resident of Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab since 2020.

She is survived by two sons, Ricky Byers (Tammy) of Roanoke and Timmy Byers (Sherry) of Buena Vista; three grandchildren, Shawna Camden (Jeremiah), Bethany Mohler (Keith) and Derek Byers (Hannah); six great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Barbara Wheeler, Brenda Lewis, Betty Wise (Butch), Larry Tomlin (Donna), Robert Tomlin (Kathy), and Lewis Tomlin (Kathy) and many nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 7, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, both at the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church.    Flowers or donations to the church are welcome in her memory.
