Born March 12, 1926, in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late Harry David McGown and Margaret E. Chaplin McGown.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Staton, son, Freddie Alvin Staton; and a stillborn son.

Clara worked in the cafeteria at Mountain View Elementary School. She was faithful to her Lord and her church and enjoyed her family.

Surviving are her children, Wanda Seaman (Clarence), Raymond Dean Staton (Tina), Brenda Faye Snider (Orie), and Darrell B. Staton (Ressie); 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, at Victory Baptist Church, 3700 Lombardy Ave, Buena Vista, with Pastor Dean Staton, Pastor Adam Williams, and Brother Dorsey Hostetter officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Victory Baptist Church.
