Goldie was a member of the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church since 2014 and she was formerly a beloved member of Oronoco Brethren Church in Amherst. She was a caregiver to many special friends in the community over the years and a resident of Shenandoah Valley Health and Rehab since 2019.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tony Randall “Randy” Byers; mother Edna T. Tomlin; father John “Smiley” Tomlin; former husband of 25 years, James Carl Byers; three brothers, one sister and many other loved ones.

She is survived by two sons, Ricky Byers (Tammy) of Roanoke and Timmy Byers (Sherry) of Buena Vista; daughter-in-law Tracy Byers of Buena Vista; three grandchildren, Shawna Camden (Jeremiah), Bethany Mohler (Keith) and Derek Byers (Hannah); six great-grandchildren (one on the way); six siblings, Barbara Wheeler, Brenda Lewis, Betty Wise (Butch), Larry Tomlin (Donna), Robert Tomlin (Kathy), Lewis Tomlin (Kathy); and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held yesterday, Tuesday, April 8, at the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial followed at Green Hill Cemetery. Donations to the church are welcome in her memory.
