PAIGE KNICK

Edward “Paige” Knick, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at Havenwood Assisted Living.

“Paige” was born Dec. 4, 1929, at his homeplace in Kerrs Creek, to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Knick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Bertha “Pat” Knick, and three sisters, Madeline Knick Caldwell, Pauline Knick Kelly and Leola Knick McClung.

He and “Pat” served as devoted charter members of Lexington Baptist Church for many years and were known for their faithful attendance and support of the ministries there. “Paige” was also known as an avid dog-lover; during stronger years, he could be seen walking his dogs daily at the park and delighting in their companionship. “Paige” retired from Burlington as an instrumentation technician where he established a legacy of hard-work and dedication for at least 47 years. Some interesting and sweet memories about “Paige” are that he appreciated nature, was happy to hike and explore mountains and trails and had a personal rock-collection. As a concerned citizen, he maintained a peak interest in local and national news and praised efforts to conserve wildlife and the environment. His favorite dessert was pineapple-upside-down cake, and he ate candy-corn and jellybeans by the handful. His musical tastes were classic country and traditional hymns, especially when played on the piano by “Pat.” He preferred to be productive in his spare time, whether taking care of house-tasks, exercising, or investing in a personal hobby.

His best accomplishment was the family he raised. Those left to cherish his life and the impact it made are sons Donald “Donny” Knick from Vinton, David (Sandra) Knick from Buena Vista and Darryl (Linda) Knick from Buena Vista; grandchildren Anthony (Andrea) Eshaghi and Ashley (Matt) Barnette and Stephanie (Stephen) Ross from N.C., Patrick (Devon) Knick from Christiansburg and Christie (Eric) Seaman from Buena Vista. In addition to these family members, “Paige” also left behind multiple great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins who join in loving and missing him deeply.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Lexington Baptist Church by Pastor Michael Saunders. Burial will follow at New Monmouth Presbyterian Cemetery.  Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
