Born Aug. 28, 1939, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Gordon Spencer Hickman and Rachel Mutispaw Hickman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Carter.

Alice was a member of the Kerrs Creek Baptist Church, Lexington Moose Lodge #1700 and retired from Institution Foods with over 30 years of service. She also loved hunting and fishing.

Surviving are her husband, Richard Garrett Jr.; children, Richard “Ricky” Garrett III and Deborah “Deb” Garrett Harlow; siblings, Sandra Hatcher, Ted Hickman, Ray Hickman and Larry Hickman; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted Saturday, Feb. 25, at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. David Bain and the Rev. Sheldon Sorrels. Burial followed at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.
