Rudie Clark Terhune died March 28

Rudie Clark Terhune achieved many recognitions during her life, both personally and professionally.

She married Charles B. Terhune, MD, on Feb. 20, 1955. She was a mother to four children: Susan T. Putnam, Jon G. Terhune, Anne T. Thrift, and Richard Ramsey Terhune.

Her professional achievements were many. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Upsala College. She earned her RN at St. Luke's NYC while in a TB ward. Following her nurturing years of motherhood, she returned to school where she received her Masters of Science graduate degree in Psychiatric Nursing from Rutgers University. Following that she became an officer in the NJ Chapter of Clinical Specialists in Psychiatric Nursing and the American Academy of Adolescent Psychiatry.

Entering private practice with her husband, Charles B Terhune, MD, she worked as a psychoanalytic counselor until her retirement.

Following a coast-to-coast journey in an RV, she settled in Punta Gorda, Florida. There she continued to volunteer with the PEO (an organization dedicated to the further education of women).

Her remaining years were spent in Lexington, until she passed away on March 28, 2023.

Her many hobbies included a passion for MGs, Irish setters (the original “dog whisperer”), needlecraft, gardening, reading and cryptogram puzzles, singing in the church choir ... as well as playing her beautiful alto recorder. She remains a comfort and inspiration to us all.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
